Blog Writer for the Medical School Headquarters Website
Mappd is seeking a Blog Writer to support our efforts in providing high-quality advising programs to premed and pre-health students. This role is fully remote and is a part-time, 10-15 hour per week position. This is a great opportunity for a pre-health student who is knowledgeable about the prehealth process and want to contribute to helping other pre-health students.

The Mappd family of brands includes Medical School Headquarters, the Premed Years podcast, the MCAT podcast and a variety of pre-health programming. We offer high-quality, expert content at no charge through podcasts, videos, and blogs. Through Medical School Headquarters, we also offer 1-on-1 advising, group advising, and a web-based application for navigating the pre-med and pre-PA process. Mappd is co-founded by Dr. Ryan Gray and Rachel Grubbs. Dr. Gray is the creator and face of many of our programs.
Responsibilities
- Blog Writing for Website ContentConducting research on any given topic
Optimizing articles for SEO and accessibility
Writing engaging content for the website and other assets
Identifying gaps in content and recommending new topics
Editing content to ensure voice, grammar and style is on point
Scheduling a calendar of topics for the website
Staying up to date on industry trends to support content development
Distilling complex concepts and language into content that is easily understood
Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging, branding and style
Working with our social media team to ensure content flows with topics consistent with the application cycle calendar and relevant topics trending
Competencies Required
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills: writing, listening, speaking
- Strong time management skills and comfort with multiple deadlines
- Experience with WordPress is a plus, but not required
- Prior familiarity with higher education is required; Familiarity with premedical and pre-health process is a plus.
- Prior writing experience required. Internships and/or club-based work considered.
Compensation
Compensation range [$20-$25/hour] depending on experience.
