Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections (“IDOC”) is seeking a dynamic and detail oriented individual to become part of our Record Office team at the Taylorville Correctional Center as the Office Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with calculating sentences, which include incoming transfers, new sentencing orders, and good time calculations. In order to perform daily duties, the candidate will correspond with the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, Judges, States Attorneys, other outside entities, and others within the Department. Job Responsibilities
- Performs technical office support functions including the calculations of Earned Program Sentence Credits (EPSC) and Earned Discretionary Sentence Credits (EDSC).
- Assist in regulating, monitoring, and processing information and documents regarding sentence calculations.
- Gathers information for preparation of reports.
- Monitors the Offender 360 System (O360) to ensure correct data for appropriate time awards, time revocations, projected release dates, and mandatory release dates.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college OR completion of high school AND two (2) years of related office experience OR two (2) years of independent business experience.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at twenty (30) words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in a corrections records office.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience performing basic business mathematics.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience utilizing word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word or similar software.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience interpreting legal terminology.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience keyboarding and maintaining reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience proofreading and ensuring documents are correct.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience preparing and maintaining confidential files.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois.
